TIRANA, Dec 4 /ATA/ Rozafa Castle in Shkodra has attracted a high number of visitors this year, exceeding last year’s numbers.
The Shkodra Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage announced that “during the January-November period, the number of visitors reached 92,327 or 43,773 more visitors than during the same period of 2021.”
According to Regional Cultural Heritage Directorate, tourist visits to Rozafa Castle have continued on the eve of the tourist season, reflecting an increase in the number of local and foreign visitors.
The requalification of the Rozafa castle through lighting, an investment by the Ministry of Culture, has turned it into a tourist attraction which is visited by local and foreign tourists even in the evening.
Rozafa Castle is a historical monument. In the surrounding walls of the castle, which cover about 9 hectares of land, there are constructions of four periods: the Balshaj (the 14th century), the Venetian rule (the 15th century), the Ottoman rule (16th-17th century), and the Bushatllinj ( 18th-19th centuries). Built during the Illyrian kingdom, it is mentioned in a legend that shows the sanctity of keeping the word of honor.
