Tabaku: Europe, secure prospect even in economy

TIRANA, December 3/ATA/ The MP of the Democratic Party in opposition Jorida Tabaku stated today that in order to curb emigration, we must transform Albania into a country of European standards, giving a chance to the free market and meritocracy.

“Albania faces numerous challenges today. Albania has a corrupted government, the crisis of Russian aggression in Ukraine and further emigration that costs the country 630 million euros per year. How can we stop a country from falling apart and give it a chance to recover? Building European standards in Albania”, she said in a post on social networks.

Tabaku said that to meet this goal we need to put to work the main pillars that keep a society alive.

“First, we have to give the free market a chance. Skilled young people in our country cannot be successful if the free market is replaced or abolished for the interest of a few oligarchs. That’s why the Stabilization and Association Agreement is important; that’s why economic freedoms are important. It is not enough to be a society capable of producing innovations, but also to keep our skilled people here”, she added.

Also, Tabaku highlighted meritocracy, which is the basis for a competitive economy and a society where the most skilled win and the most successful are rewarded.

“Social mobility; Today, Albanians are born poor and leave this poor country because they are not given equal opportunities and chances. The job is for people with party influence or militants and not for the skilled and talented. Unfortunately, the government’s focus has been based on another triangle that has slowly destroyed the country,” she said.

According to her, Public Private Partnerships have turned into a budget nightmare, costs for citizens and investments that enrich a handful of people.

“The Fiscal and Criminal Amnesty initiative has been counter-productive and is disrupting the normal balance of those who have always paid taxes and duties. Golden Passports, a very problematic scheme that also destroys the principles of the free market, meritocracy and social mobility. Time to return to healthy principles that bring us the opportunity to build a country of European standards in Albania”, she said. /m.m/p.s./
