TIRANA, Nov 14 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Monday from Skopje that with the Dry Port of Struga that will be built in Durrës, a complex infrastructure will be created to increase the volume of interaction between the two countries.
At the joint press conference with the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Dimitar Kovacevski, shortly after the inter-governmental meeting, Rama focused on the agreements signed today between the two countries.
“As far as the preliminary project of the Dry Port of Struga is concerned, the Albanian government will undertake it in the framework of the agreement with the company that has designed the new commercial port and combined with the military area of Durrës, as well as the Dry Port of Pristina “, Rama said.
Prime Minister added that the increase in the volume of interaction between the countries was also the primary goal of the “Open Balkan” initiative, as well as the Berlin Process.
Rama emphasized that the increase in energy prices and war inflation are two weapons used by Putin to destabilize Europe.
“We are in difficulties like everyone and the principle that the more we interact and work together, the more we see the future as a common destination, the better we can cope with these complex situations applies to times of adversity”, he said.
Prime Minister said that very solid foundations have been laid with North Macedonia to build a common future in respect of freedoms, rights and welfare for the next generation.
“We are only a few days away from the EU- Western Balkans Summit, the first summit in the history of the EU to be held in our region, this time in Tirana. This is an opportunity to underscore the strength of cooperation and point out our needs not simply as needs that should be met for us, but to put up a common frontal face and try to consolidate this front”, he said.
Focusing on the bilateral relations, Rama said that they have never been as good as today and are continuously producing results.
“The ‘Open Balkan’ initiative has given results in numbers. In terms of imports and exports, there is an increase that has surpassed the trend over the years, this is an important sign of the potential we have to further develop this relationship”, he said.
Likewise, Rama said that Albania and North Macedonia are today two countries negotiating the EU accession.
“This after a long and tough period that as luck would have it saw us join in pain out of love for Europe and its indifference towards us. Today we are at another new phase that has finally affirmed that our country is in the united European family and this affirmation has come thanks to our passion, work, results and determination to “marry” willy-nilly the united Europe”, said Rama.
