Two new schools inaugurated in Kodër-Kamza

TIRANA, Oct 12 /ATA/ Another two new schools “Mother Teresa” and “John F. Kennedy” in Kodër-Kamzë, opened their doors this school year for students, with ample spaces and contemporary standards.

They are part of a new campus for pre-university education in Kodër-Kamzë and will give every child of this area the opportunity to complete the entire educational cycle within the perimeter of the area they live in.
These two facilities, designed by the well-known architect Stefano Boeri, house preschool, 9-year school and high school.

The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, together with the Minister of Education and Sports, Evis Kushi and the Minister for Youth and Children, Bora Muzhaqi, wished success to the students who are sitting at school desks in the new premises for the first time.

“Here we have not only built just a school, but a hub that produces good energy for Kodër Kamza. This school, which is divided into two facilities, starts from pre-school cycle, continues with 9 year cycle and high school – it is an extraordinary campus, which I believe will be a game changer in terms of the image, reputation and economy of the area as no other project has done such a thing before,” said Veliaj.
He recalled how in every other project for the development of Tirana, nothing beautiful built in these years has been for the faint hearted.

“When I look back on what we have gone through to build this school, all the debates we were involved- we even had a live-streamed debate in the Prime Minister’s office with the rector of that time – which was full of senseless hostility, unsubstantiated attacks, inexplicable hatred for a private property, which cost us dearly as the catch phrase goes, to make sure that right here, where Kamza borders Tirana, we would treat it as an area that unites us. Nothing unites a community more than the school,” said Veliaj.

Tirana mayor said that schools have been named after outstanding people such as Mother Teresa or the former American president John F. Kennedy, the latter, also coincides with a significant milestone as is the 100th anniversary of the establishment of relations between Albania and the USA.

“There is no better way to mark 100 years of the special relationship we have with America than to build a school named after John F. Kennedy – one of the most emancipated US presidents. This school deserves the name of a great leader,” said Veliaj, who quoted John Kennedy, as saying that “a child miseducated is a child lost.” Our mission is not to leave a boy or girl behind in Kodër Kamza, Lapraka, the Institute zone,” emphasized Veliaj.
