TIRANA, Oct 10 /ATA/ By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama appealed for the biases to be left outside the perimeter of science and scientific research as long as the past, history, language, culture are protected and the future is also guaranteed within this perimeter.
At the ceremony organized on the 50th anniversary of the Academy of Sciences, Rama said that “today the Academy from a hopeless and beseeching place, where as I remember the most important meetings were those held for paying the last respects to someone who passed away, has turned into a space where the seedlings of tomorrow are being planted.”
“In fact, today there is a high degree of openness that has been lacking for many years, which not only creates the conditions for the academics of this country, regardless of their convictions, sympathies, affiliations under the roof of the Academy, to feel part of the same aloofness just as those at the time of extreme bias felt and behaved, but also for the Albanian academics of another generation, of the generation of emigration, the Albanian academics who achieve impressive success around the world, who even until 2019 when the reform set in, were completely forgotten and abandoned as if they did not exist,” he said.
The Prime Minister said that “a few days ago, a second international nanotechnology congress was held in Tirana, something inconceivable just a few years ago, something beyond imagination before the 2019 reform with the participation of prestigious technology institutes from 25 countries in a discussion which was done in Albania, but which did not leave out science and did not leave out Albanian scientists, not just as hosts, but also as a respected part of that community.”
