TIRANA, September 29 /ATA/- The National Civil Defense Agency and the “Satellogic USA” Operator signed today the contract in the field of defense and security for the monitoring with advanced technology of the territory of the Republic of Albania.
Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi said that today’s contract represents a technological leap for Albania and for our institutions.
“This contract is worth 6 million USD. It consists in the exclusive use of two satellites, initially for a period of 3 years for the monitoring of the territory of the Republic of Albania, the development of the technical and professional capacities of the Republic of Albania for the use of the satellite service for the processing of geospatial information as well as for providing of imaging products and its other components,” he said.
Peleshi emphasized that Albania will have dedicated priority access to two of the satellites that are expected to join the “Satellogic USA” fleet, its future X-space satellite launch which will be called Albania 1 and Albania 2.
“This service will enable beneficiary institutions to receive satellite images. He emphasized to the institutions that regardless of the fact that the National Civil Defense Agency will be the one that contracts and uses this service first for its own needs, there are a number of other institutions that will use and benefit from this unique, innovative, missing service until now. Thus, the satellite will provide a comprehensive and periodic coverage of the earth’s surface enabling multiple uses and a wealth of information in both the public and private sectors to aid policy and effective decision-making. In addition to receiving high-resolution images, this service, through automated processes, will also analyze information received from the territory”, he said./p.s./
