Access for livestock farmers to innovative technologies

TIRANA, Sept  28  /ATA/ Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca, during a meeting with experts from the Livestock Institute in France, discussed the implementation of new, innovative technologies in the service of livestock production in our farms.

“With the experts of the Livestock Institute in France, we implement the plan to further strengthen Albanian livestock through the transfer of knowledge and technologies, making available for livestock farmers new technologies, also  strengthening the center of the livestock in Korça,” said Krifca.

She emphasized that this cooperation will transform the Livestock Center of Korça and further consolidate the development of this sector and make it more competitive.

“We must provide access for farmers to Knowledge and Innovation Systems in Agriculture and Livestock,” she said, adding that a modern and functional advisory service will help our farmers to better manage their activity, increase production , increase quality, be more competitive and therefore generate more income.

Last year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development launched an important reform to improve the public advisory service in Albania. Through  the creation of 4 new Regional Agricultural Extension Agencies (AREB), the reform is designed  to respond, in the most efficient way, to the needs of a continuously growing sector.

The creation of AREBs improves the focus towards the advisory service and aims to increase the interaction with the Agricultural Technology Transfer Centers (QTTB) by providing the highest quality service to farmers and other stakeholders.
