TIRANA, September 27/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that Munich airport in Germany will be the operator of Vlora airport, thus guaranteeing its success.
During a meeting held in Durrës for the balance-sheet of the tourist season, Rama said that it has already been reached the agreement with the Munich airport.
“The work on building of Vlora airport is making progress at a good pace and is guaranteed by the agreement with the Munich airport, which will be the operator of the airport. And it has not entered into an agreement for a little thing, but for a lot”, stated Rama.
As for the Saranda airport, Rama said that it will be at the construction site during this mandate.
Kukës Airport, which started flights in May of the current year, according to PM Rama, has opened a new perspective.
“We are pushing for important investments in the area of Kukës in terms of tourism”, he said.
The construction of the Vlora airport is being carried out by the merger of companies registered in Switzerland, Mabco Construction, consisting of Mabetex Group, which holds 50% of the shares, YDA Group with 48% and A Group sh.p.k with 2%.
Vlora International Airport is in our civil aviation strategy one of the biggest works that is designed to accommodate all flights anywhere in the world and transoceanic flights, which until now have not been offered by our country due to the non-suitable runway at Rinas airport.
With an investment value of 104 million Euros, during the first phase of 2-year period, there will be built the airport building and the runway, amounting to over 103.5 million USD.
While in the second phase, in the first 4 years, there will be developed additional business and tourism infrastructure, reaching the investment value of hundreds of millions of Euros.
Vlora Airport will host direct flights with the United States of America.
This investment is expected to create 1,000 new jobs, reduce ticket prices for Albanians and turn Vlora into the most important tourist gateway of the region./p.s./
