TIRANA, Sept 26 /ATA/ Farmers, beneficiaries of support schemes through ARDA, are investing in new work environments and improvement of technology, with the aim of increasing quality.
Ilir and Orbelin are two brothers from Permet who manage one of the most successful enterprises specializing in the cultivation, collection and sale of medicinal plants and spices, in the rural area of Farka in Tirana. Thanks to support from the government through ARDA, they have set up a modern point of collection, processing and marketing of aromatic medicinal herbs, involving farmers from all over the country.
Prime Minister Edi Rama and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Frida Krifca saw first-hand the collection point. Minister Krifca explained how they entered the market adding that the young entrepreneurs are focused on domestic market.
“Orbelini and Iliri, two young professionals, who launched in 2014 a crazy idea after a 1-year study to produce aromatic medicinal plants from the area that was familiar to them, and bring them packaged as a final product for the Albanian consumer. While factories of aromatic medicinal plants focus on international markets, these guys have focused on domestic market. They collect products from about 50 farmers, about 50 tons of different medicinal plants, which they process and sell on domestic market to 1,500 customers.”
