TIRANA, Sept 17 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Saturday that, “Albania is a safer country than ever before which is shown not only by the figures and facts that come from the field, but also by the fact that touristic Albania is developing by leaps and bounds as indicated in the tourism statistics for this year.”
Pressed by the citizens in an online communication about the law and order situation in the country, Rama said, “we don’t have fatalities every 24 hours. We have had our problems in terms of some really brutal murders especially in the month of August. But facts are indisputable.”
“There was a time in Albania when more than 100 people were killed in a year. And this time was not 100 years ago, but it was just a little before we took over the leadership of the country,” said Rama.
“2012 saw 112 homicides. Meanwhile, we have reduced the number of murders in Albania by half. And this is a fact. Despite what happened during August, this year records the lowest number of homicides in the last 30 years,” Rama emphasized.
