TIRANA, Sept 14 /ATA/ Lending to economy in euro has increased in the 7- month period of this year.
The Bank of Albania announces that, during this period, the banking sector disbursed 661 million euro of fresh loans in the European currency, an all time high in at least the last 5 years.
Compared to a year ago, fresh loan in euro increased by about 40%, continuing to show high growth rates for the second year in a row.
BoA notes that the loan in euro is the main contributor to the increase of the loan for the economy.
According to BoA, in the last two years, even EURO-denominated deposits are growing at a higher rate than those in Lek. This has increased fund availability in euro for the banking sector, creating more supply for loans in the European currency.
