Cyber attacks, Stoltenberg: NATO, in full solidarity with Albania

TIRANA, September 14 /ATA/ Secretary General of the NATO Jens Stoltenberg said today that he had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Edi Rama to discuss the cyber attacks that happened on our country recently.

In a post on “Twitter”, Stoltenberg stated that NATO will continue to offer support and stands in full solidarity with Albania.

“Spoke with PM Edi Rama on the cyber-attacks against our Ally Albania, which many Allies have attributed to Iran. NATO will continue to provide support, and stands in full solidarity with Albania”, said the Secretary General of NATO Stoltenberg.

On July 15, our country became the target of a serious cyber attack, which aimed at destroying the digital infrastructure of the Government of the Republic of Albania, paralyzing public services, as well as stealing data and electronic communications from government systems. Attacks were also carried out last week on the TIMS system.

PM Rama said last week that the attacks came from Iran and government decided to immediately break off the diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, asking the embassy staff of the Islamic Republic of Iran in our country to leave the territory within 24 hours. /j.p/p.s./
