Export of processed products increased

TIRANA, September 9 /ATA/ The double-digit growth of exports of fresh agricultural products  has turned “Made in Albania” foods into the most important group of Albanian exports.

During a meeting with farmers in Fier, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Frida Krifca said that, “Fier region accounts for 23% of cultivated land in the country and there are recorded the highest agricultural production and exports”.

“But, in recent years, Krifca emphasized that Fier region has given positive signals in the export of processed fruits and vegetables. With over 60 collection centers for agricultural products, where agricultural products are not only stored, but also selected and processed, the export of processed greens has increased this year by 30% on an annual basis.

Albania is increasing the profits from the export of processed products in addition to the rest of the profits, from the export of fresh products.

“The development of the processing chain increases exports to high values, Albania is marking a progressive increase in agricultural exports that this year increased by 48 million Euros, compared to the previous year,” said the minister.

Krifca said that investments in the vegetable and fruit processing chain have increased thanks to the support from IPARD and the National Support Scheme, which are easing production costs, returning later to new investments in relation to other sectors of the economy. /j.p/p.s./
