PM Rama: Illegal buildings to be demolished or confiscated

TIRANA, Sept 7 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/  – Prime Minister Edi Rama urged builders to either pre-purchase or donate their illegal buildings, warning that “they won’t be able to block property by corrupting judges as they would seize operating as economic stakeholders.”

The government head stated “it is unacceptable that additional unauthorized floors thrive on top of high-rise buildings that wealthy people keep constructing on beaches, as well as right at centre of Tirana.”

The Premier said “this is the most heinous contrast to be created.”

“This requires immediate, merciless actions either against these rich people, or the police officers and various inspectors, who show their teeth to the citizens, while they bow to kiss the feet of the rich,” Rama said.

According to him, “the State Police should strongly engage and support an operation led by the National Inspectorate for the Protection of the Territory in collaboration of the National Cadastre Agency, and the Housing Entity in all the municipalities, starting with Tirana Municipality.”

He said that today’s decision of the Council of Ministers provides for demolition or confiscation in public interest of unauthorized residential buildings, business centres, hotels and any other illegally constructed building.
