Vucic on energy projects: Cooperation for benefit of all sides and our neighbors

TIRANA, September 2/ATA/ President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić stated today that he was proud to host the “Open Balkans” initiative in Belgrade.

Vucic said that, “This initiative brings hope to this part of the world which has always been full of conflicts and misunderstandings at the best of times”.

“We have tried everything except trying to cooperate and to work side by side with each other and to try and ensure a better life for the citizens. I believe that the time has come to try for this”, said Vucic.

He also provided some figures regarding trade exchanges between the countries.

Speaking about the energy crisis, Vucic said that, “A difficult winter is approaching and anyone who says otherwise would not be telling the truth. We have seen that there will be help or rather there is a promise from the EU that there will be help, due to the large amount of money used to collect the electricity. We will of course try to ask for their help. Partial aid or support to buy the necessary amounts of energy, if they allow us to do this, will be very important, it will be great for all our countries, for the “Open Balkan” initiative, but also for Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro present here. Of course, it is a burden for them and for us to survive the winter”.

“We talked about the significance of energy projects and what it would be necessary to do. Because if we had a better gas pipeline with North Macedonia, we would have a better situation. So we are at this point, we are struggling on both sides. So the future should find us well-prepared. Albania, for example, has coal, we don’t. A lot can be done in the future and we can see what we can do for the benefit of all parties and for the benefit of all our neighbors as well,” said Vucic./r.e/p.s./
