TIRANA, Aug 25 /ATA/ Tracking, control and formalization of food products are a priority of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. According to an announcement from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, since October 15, 2021, official controls in livestock markets are a functional task of the Veterinary Service under the National Veterinary and Plant Protection Authority.
By supervising and checking the slaughterhouses, the closed loop in animal production guarantees the control of the health and well-being of animals from birth to the consumer product, as well as enables timely information between the National Veterinary and Plant Protection Authority and the National Food Authority.
This change in the chain of control is important, because it not only increases the formalization of livestock and meat trade, but also guarantees the final consumer in the stores that the product they consume is controlled according to origin, animal health and compliance with veterinary parameters.
“It is important that consumers turn to trading points and licensed slaughterhouses for a safe product to protect their health. Information about the location and services of these slaughterhouses is easily accessed on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture,” according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Every day the veterinarians of the regional directorates monitor the livestock markets at the national level to set up a network of livestock and veterinary information, with all the animals entering and leaving the market. Based on the data of these institutions, for the period January 2022 – June 2022, a total of 4680 entry certificates were accepted in the markets and 4891 exit certificates were issued.
Official veterinarians do not allow in any case the entry of unregistered animals and without a movement certificate to the markets. This process is part of the traceability and mobility of livestock and guaranteeing food safety.
