TIRANA, Aug 15 /ATA/ / The cycle of polyphonic song weekends continues in the city of Gjirokastra, attracting the attention of folk song art lovers as well as tourists. Since the beginning of August, iso-polyphony has descended every weekend in the characteristic Bazaar of Gjirokastra, as part of the event entitled “Iso on the cobblestone streets,” in which various popular groups perform outdoors, becoming one of the main attractions of Girokastra in the evenings.
Performing on the makeshift stages along the cobbled streets are some of the well-known groups of the Labe folk song such as the group “Ergëria” and “Cfaka.” According to the mayor Flamur Golemi, in the concerts that are taking place against the backdrop of Bazaar, popular artists are showcasing the most outstanding values of the iso-polyphony, which is part of UNESCO heritage.
“The event is intended to become an attraction for local and foreign tourist guides who visit Gjirokastra this summer,” mayor Golemi said.
