Durrës Turkish bath will be open to public

TIRANA, August 12/ATA/ The old Turkish bath is being transformed into another tourist spot in Durrës. The 2019 earthquake caused damage even to this XVII-XVIII century building.

After strengthening the building structure, restoration, re-laying of the floor, there will be added the digital element to tell the history of the object.

This revitalization is made possible thanks to the EU4Culture program, implemented by UNOPS.

Eu4Culture and UNOPS have enabled the restoration of foundations, walls and floors with original materials. Minister of Culture Elva Margariti closely inspected the works and shared the news on social networks that the Turkish bath will become an attractive center for tourists, given that it will have a digital element.

Another ancient monument, which is ready to open to the public, is the Venetian Tower in Durrës.

One of the most symbolic monuments of the city of Durrës, the Venetian Tower is being transformed into an information and interpretation center of the city’s history for visitors.

The EU4Culture program is funded by the European Union and implemented by UNOPS in close partnership with the Ministry of Culture.

With a total budget of 40 million Euros, EU4Culture extends throughout the territory affected by the earthquake of 26 November 2019 with planned interventions in a number of Cultural Heritage objects. /j.p/p.s./
