TIRANA, Aug 5 /ATA/ Director of Emergency Preparedness and Response at the National Civil Protection Agency (AKMC), Robert Hysenllari informed that 19 wildfires have been reported in the country in the last 24 hours.
Speaking about the fire situation, Hysenllari said that the wildfires have been extinguished in: Shqath village, Dibër municipality; in Shahinaj village, Shijak municipality; in Dragobi and Bushat of Tropoja municipality; in Shkjeze village, Vau-Dejës municipality; in Nartë village, Vlorë municipality, in Kalivaç village, Memaliaj municipality; in Dëshiran village, Belsh municipality; in Drizë village, Kuçovo municipality; in the village of Karbunare e Vogël and Konjat of Lushnjë municipality; in the village of Shtiqën, the municipality of Vau i Dejes; in Selcë village, Maliq municipality.
During the last 24 hours, 342 operational forces of the Fire Protection and Rescue Service, Armed Forces, municipal forces, police forces, employees of the Protected Areas Administration, forest service, volunteer forces and 35 fire engines have been involved in fire-fighting operations.
Currently, according to him, “there are hotspots in the municipality of Shkodër, in the place called ” Zorgji Peak” in the village of Ndërlysaj, which has been raging on for 3 days, in a pine forest spot and mountainous terrain. The operation was joined by the forces of the Protected Areas Administration.
There is also a hotspot in the municipality of Mat, in the village of German, in an area of pine and oak forest near the Qafshtama National Park, which has been raging since August 1. The forces of Mat Municipality, backed up by the Armed Forces, are battling the flames. The situation is improving and the remaining fires are expected to be extinguished today.
In the municipality of Kurbin, the blazes in the village of Skuraj and Malin e Bardhë are receding. Today, the structures of the Kurbin municipality continue the fire-extinguishing operation.
Also, yesterday evening we were notified of a wildfire in the village of Bulshat in the municipality of Mirdita, in the same area where the blaze was extinguished a few days ago. The fire service responded promptly by maintaining the fire safety perimeter so that they pose no danger to the homes. The operation to extinguish the fire is being carried out by the firefighting forces and the crews of the Municipality.
