Ibrahimaj: We will digitize local government services

TIRANA, July 22 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/ Minister of Finance and Economy, Delina Ibrahimj, stated on Friday during the meeting of Prime Minister Rama with the mayors in Pogradec that the funds for the municipalities have increased twofold in these years.

In her remarks, Ibrahimi put the emphasis on improvement of financial indicators in the country’s municipalities.

“Half of the mayors’ discussion was dedicated to finances, which means increased awareness about management of finances and savings. Since 2015, municipal budgets have improved, revenues have doubled at country level, while transfers have increased and arrears have slowed down. So in macro level, things look good,” she said.
Ibrahimaj added that there are 8 municipalities that have exceeded the revenue plan and four are in the region of Tirana. “Most of the municipalities have fared well in expenditure realization, which means that there is an increased prudence in management of public finances. This year requires prudence as we are facing a crisis that has created a lot of uncertainty,” she said.

Ibrahimaj added that “we have started the budget review process, which aims to economize any type of government spending. Thus, we will move ahead with investments that bring about economic development, as these investments keep people at work, inject capital into other businesses to sustain jobs.”

“We will move ahead with the investments in modernization of technology, which improve service delivery and increase the efficiency of governance. In this direction, next year the local government should go towards digitization, so that the services are delivered in the shortest possible time and with the greatest effectiveness,” said Ibrahimaj.
