TIRANA, July 21 /ATA/ Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, stated on Thursdau that the Vlora airport will be the most important airport in the country because it will operate direct flight route with the US and Canada.
This, according to her, will also reduce the travel cost for citizens.
Minister Balluku, in her remarks, emphasized that over 12,000 citizens are expected to be employed directly and indirectly at this airport.
Balluku pointed out that the airport is being built outside the protected area, which has been the property of the Albanian army for years.
Meanwhile, the minister praised the consortium of companies, with 50% of the shares held by entrepreneur Behgjet Pacolli’s “Mabetex.” According to her, the consortium has vast experience in this field, since it owns the Munich airport, one of Europe’s largest airport in terms of flight processing.
“We build roads, airports, tunnels, ports, everything to propel the country into economic development. And we make every procedure transparent, since it is no accident that leading European companies come to compete, precisely for photovoltaic parks, roads, ports or railways. The reason is because we launched social packages, we reformed justice system, education. This is our challenge, as we never compare ourselves to you”, said Balluku.
The minister, on the other hand, informed that work is underway to establish an academy for aircraft engineers and technicians, as the first facilities for aircraft repair will be built at the Vlora airport.
