Export of vegetables increased by about 10%

TIRANA, July 20 /ATA/ In the first 6 months of the current year, the export of vegetables increased by about 10%, INSTAT reported.

Commercial operators claim that the increase in domestic agricultural produce, especially of the greenhouses, influenced the increase in exports and the number of contracts with foreign countries for their export.

According to INSTAT, the export of food and beverages increased by 18.5% during the 6 month period. This was higher if compared to other exports.

Farmers in areas of agricultural production potential claim that this year export prices were higher, but the quantity has also been increasing due to the increase of production in greenhouses.

The country’s economy in 2021 grew with the highest rates of the last two decades by over 8.5%. Agriculture, the largest sector of the economy, increased by 0.28%, while there are good reasons to expect further development, as agriculture has moved into a consolidation stage./p.s./
