TIRANA, July 17 /ATA/ – Street art murals by the talented artist from Korca Arjol Pepi and his amazing team have transformed a once-dull part of city space in the so-called “roundabout at the Martyrs of the Nation Cemetery” in Tirana, Albanian capital, into a wonderful and colourful depiction.
Prime Minister Edi Rama on Sunday posted images featuring the newly-transformed public space.
“Good morning and through this artwork at a public space by the gifted Korca artist Arjol Pepi and his fantastic team at the roundabout of the Martyrs of the Nation Cemetery, I wish you all a tranquil and peaceful Sunday,” PM Rama said via social networks.
Art in Public Spaces is the latest Albanian government’s multifaceted initiative to breathe in positivity through depiction of culture and traditions through a state budget funding of over 200 million lek.
Street art murals and graffiti will be painted in at least 18 public spaces across Albania to inspire refreshing and positive energies in the territory.
The artist competition was launched on June 24.
“It is our ambition that the street art and works of arts in public spaces actually becomes an annual government programme, designed to include not only public spaces, namely the road infrastructure in this case, but also the indoor and outdoor public spaces of the state institutions,” PM Rama said in his remarks at the launch of the project.
