TIRANA, July 8 /ATA/ Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, paid an official visit to Montenegro, where she was received by Deputy Prime Minister, Ervin Ibrahimović, who is also Minister of Capital Investments.

Minister Balluku announced that, during the meeting, the interlocutors discussed joint projects related to energy and road infrastructure.

“We discussed the plans for the gasification of both countries, which can be included in a larger project, but of course, revitalizing the Adriatic-Ionian project, one of the most important projects in the future. Both governments, but also other partners of this project, such as Croatia or Bosnia-Herzegovina, will get to work straight away,” said Balluku.
Minister Balluku added that at issue was also the Vlora thermal power plant project as well as a similar project in Bari.

“The companies that have already signed with the Albanian government for the thermal power plant of Vlora can also supply that of Bari, driving the price of production per megawatt/hour down,” the minister said.

“Energy has become one of the most important geopolitical weapons after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and the solution to producing electricity is more necessary than ever. We also discussed future infrastructure projects related to the Adriatic-Ionian Corridor, or the railway connecting our two countries, which will be supported by the European Union,” said Balluku.

Also, the minister informed that under discussion was the project for the construction of the bridge over the Buna river, which connects Velipoja with Ulcinj, to cut the distances, from the current 17 km to 500 m, facilitating the movement of citizens from both sides.
