TIRANA, June 10 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Friday that the re-engagement of the Chancellery and personally of the German Chancellor with the Berlin Process is a great news.
In an interview with the Albanian Public Broadcaster from Thessaloniki, where he is participating in the annual Summit of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), at the invitation of Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Rama stressed that the Open Balkan does not go counter to the Berlin Process.
Asked about the statement of German Chancellor Scholz who is on a tour to the Balkans, where he announced another summit of the Western Balkan countries, otherwise known as the Berlin initiative, and what news is expected from this, Rama said that the Open Balkan is an implementation unit of the Berlin Process.
“The Berlin process is a course of action for the Western Balkan countries and a space for setting milestones, which are concrete objectives and stimuli to concrete work in the Open Balkans. So, the Berlin Process and the Open Balkan are not two opposing initiatives, they are not even two competing initiatives, instead they are two complementary initiatives where one is at a principled level, the other is at a concrete level. The Open Balkan is an implementation unit of the Berlin Process,” Rama said.
Prime Minister Rama is in Thessaloniki, Greece, at the invitation of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to attend the annual Summit of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), with special focus on promoting regional and European cooperation and the European perspective of the Western Balkan countries.
