TIRANA, June 8 /ATA/ Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Gabriel Escobar stated today that the United States supports the “Open Balkan” initiative.
Escobar addressed the “Open Balkan” summit in Ohrid via video conference, speaking from Sarajevo.
Escobar said that the USA does not see the Western Balkan from a point of view of the problems encountered in the 20th century, but from the expectations of the 21st century.
Escobar said that every economic integration initiative should involve all 6 Western Balkan countries at the same level.
Escobar added that we also support the leaders of this initiative to cooperate for this common market.
“I say, that this is an economic initiative. This is not a political project, but a very important economic project. It is important to remain an economic project and focus on creating opportunities for the people of the region.
