Transparency Board sets new fuel prices in Albania

TIRANA, June 1 /ATA/ – The Transparency Board, a body established to oversee the fuel prices in Albania’s domestic market, decided Wednesday to increase oil and gasoline wholesale and retail prices, whereas the natural gas price will remain unchanged.

The Transparency Board decided to fix the oil retail price at 248 lek per litre, whereas the wholesale price edges up to 236 lek per litre.

The Board also decided to set the retail gasoline price at 244 lek per litre and the wholesale price tag at 232 lek per litre.

The Ministry of Finance and Economy said in a release that retail gas price is 90 lek per litre, whereas the wholesale price is 78 lek per litre.

According to the Board, the retail gas price for the households should not include the excise duty.

The current prices set by the Board entered into force today, June 1, at 6:00 pm and will remain in force until next Board meeting.

The Transparency Board was set up by the government earlier this year in a bid to curb any speculation on fuel prices as a result of the conflict in Ukraine.

The Board includes representatives from the Finance and Economy Ministry, Infrastructure and Energy Ministry, the Directorate of Tax and Customs, the head of the Competition Authority, and representatives of major oil suppliers in the country.
