TIRANA, May 31/ATA/ US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has sent a message of condolences for the death of the former president of the Republic Bujar Nishani.
The message was shared by the US Embassy in our country. Blinken says Nishani’s contributions to Albania-US relations leave a lasting legacy.
“We share in the sorrow of the Albanian people on the passing of former President Bujar Nishani. His contributions to U.S.-Albanian relations and our enduring partnership will leave a lasting legacy”, wrote U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
Former President Bujar Nishani passed away prematurely on May 28, after suffering from the complications of coronavirus infection for two months. He was suffering from pneumonia with respiratory insufficiency as a result of complications and was being treated in a hospital in Germany.
Nishani held the office of President of the Republic for a 5-year term, from July 24, 2012 to July 24, 2017./p.s./
