TIRANA, May 30 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ The chairman of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, stated on Monday that no one can hold back the process of electing the President, while expressing confidence that he will be elected in the fourth round.
In a media briefing after the end of the third round for election of the President, Balla stressed that “we stood by our commitment to await a concrete proposal from the opposition in the first 3 rounds.”
“In the 2nd and 3rd rounds we would not have a candidate with the confidence and hope that the opposition would take the responsibility to propose candidate, because it is a responsibility to participate in the process,” he added.
Balla said that “actually we will not leave the country without a president and will propose candidacies, following the principles of a process designed to dialogue with anyone who wants to share in the responsibility of electing the President. ”
“In the 4th and 5th rounds, the Constitution has defined an unlock mechanism. No one can hold back the process and the election of President. We have shown will to sit down with the opposition. We have not received any proposals with concrete names. If the opposition wanted to elect a President, it does not do honor to anyone,” said Balla.
He stated that the time has come to close the process.
“We will seek communication and dialogue with all deputies of the 3 parliamentary opposition groups to ensure the greatest possible and consensual support for the new President,” he said.
