TIRANA, May 20/ATA/ President of the European Council Charles Michel stated today that he supported the “Open Balkan” initiative and that the process would facilitate approach of the Western Balkans with the European Union.
During the joint press conference Prime Minister Edi Rama in Tirana, Michel said that he personally supported the initiative for the “Open Balkan” and wished all countries to join it.
“As for the “Open Balkan”, let me repeat, I personally support the “Open Balkan” and I wish all countries to join in this initiative because the more countries are, the bigger it will be, greater ability to cooperate, to strengthen economic and political structures, and this will facilitate the approach of the Western Balkans with the European Union,” said Michel.
Michel appreciated necessary that the countries take this step of integration in the political plan.
“The European Union has mobilized large financial packages for the Western Balkans, favoring regional links to increase economic exchanges and take into account the challenge of digital transformation and climate change. It is also the question of energy issue, i.e. the geopolitical issue related to purchasing power. This makes a lot of sense. Therefore, it is necessary to create this political platform. This is a step of integration in the political plan, getting together at the table, thinking together and having a common collective intelligence.
According to him, if we have the ability to mobilize all political intelligence together, the process would be facilitated./j.p/p.s./
