Rama: On May 1, a new era of virtual services without counters begins

TIRANA, April 27/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that on May 1 there will begin a new era of virtual services, i.e. no counters.

During an event on closing the counters of public services and passing them online, the prime minister said that, “Albania has entered the elite of the most developed countries for digital governance, and is among the first to provide document services through the national digital platform.”

“This is a historical stage of the Digital Revolution,” Rama said.

He added that, “This is a colossal change and that is also thanks to the advanced time we live in, the time of technology and digitalization”.

“In another era, we would be forced to take gradual steps, but this time gives you the opportunity to take exponential steps. You can overcome several years in a single year”, said Rama.

The prime minister stressed that, “Present-day Albania is ranked the 17th for digital services and behind us are far more developed countries than us”.

“Surprisingly, there is another element of an under-developed country having an advantage compared to some developed countries. Germany, for example, is not moving at the same pace like other countries in regard to digitalization. This is because Germany has a perfect state machine, very large and heavy, which is very difficult to turn into a machine based on digital systems. We, not having that machine, found it much easier to move fast forward using technology “, said Rama.

The prime minister stressed that beginning from May 1 there will be no more letters and counter service with physical contact for 95% of services.

“The decision is final, on April 30 there are no more counters in the Republic of Albania and you can be sure that this will work, although in the beginning there may be some concerns. There will be people who will not be able how to receive the service, but the need will make them learn it. Through the digital application of the Support Fund for Agriculture we have multiplied several times the farmers’ applications. Farmers even from very remote areas find the way and the opportunity to apply”, said Rama./p.s./
