TIRANA, April 22/ATA/ Minister of Interior Bledi Çuçi held a meeting today in Tirana with heads of the State Police in 5 regions, Tirana, Durrës, Dibra, Elbasan and Korça.
Together with the General Director of the State Police Gledis Nano, Çuçi demanded that the fight against cannabis cultivation must be in focus.
“I believe that the Police has all the potential to minimize this negative phenomenon to historical record low. Zero tolerance to cannabis cultivation. Zero political support for this criminal activity”, said Çuçi.
Regarding the initiative on legalization of cannabis for medical and industrial purposes, Minister Çuçi said that there is no connection with cannabis for trafficking purposes or use.
During the meeting, the Minister of Interior asked the police leaders to pay increased attention and increase the striking force to alternative forms of cannabis cultivation indoors.
At the same time, he asked for intensified cooperation and communication with the mayors and local government leaders.
Today at noon, Çuçi is expected to have another meeting with heads of the State Police in the regions of Berat, Fier, Vlora and Gjirokastra. /m.m/p.s./
