TIRANA, April 12 /ATA/ The Special Appellate College decided to reopen the investigation against Head of Tirana Prosecutor’s Office Elizabeta Imeraj.
After hearing the relevant parties, the trial panel decided to reopen the judicial investigation, and accepted the additional evidence submitted by Imeraj.
The Independent Qualification Commission confirmed Prosecutor Imeraj in office in April 2021, on the grounds that she meets all the three criteria: legitimacy of wealth, purity of image and professionalism.
But, the International Monitoring Operation and the Public Commissioner demanded the dismissal of the Chief Prosecutor of Tirana, claiming that she does not meet any of the criteria.
At the April 1 hearing session, Imeraj requested reopening of the investigation, taking as evidence the acts in the file of the College, as well as the new acts referred by her in support of the allegations raised.
She also asked the College to address the relevant institutions to obtain the necessary additional information, as well as to call witnesses, as part of a full and in-depth investigation./r.e/p.s./
