PM Rama to interact with citizens on impact of war on oil prices

TIRANA, March 10 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama said he will interact with the public via Facebook on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. to discuss issues concerning the international energy crisis and impact of war on oil prices.

“Let’s listen to each other regarding the international energy crisis and impact of war on oil prices,” PM Rama said.

Consumer and oil prices in particular rose at fastest pace ever as Russia launched Ukraine’s invasion two weeks ago.

A group of people gathered a day ago in front of the Prime Minister’s office along Tirana’s “Martyrs of Nation” Boulevard to protest against the rising oil prices, calling on government to intervene and curb further increase to protect citizens.

PM Rama stated at a press conference earlier this week that the government will continue to subsidise increased electricity price for households and small businesses across the country.

According to official data, the power price has jumped to 61 lek per kilowatt, but small business and household consumers continue to pay 9.5 lek per kilowatt.
