March 6 by-elections, Rama: Victory in 6 municipalities beyond expectations

TIRANA, March 7/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that, “The Socialist Party won 5 of the 6 municipalities where there were held the by-elections. It followed a campaign without need of starting the engines of the center and with an even greater difference of votes from rivals than our projections showed.”

PM Rama said that, “Yesterday’s elections gave to the Socialist Party neither more nor less than we expected”.

“5 out of 6 municipalities won; a campaign without starting the engines of the center and with a difference of votes from rivals even bigger than our projections showed. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to all those who contributed to this result, but above all thank you to the voters, who yesterday exercised their decision-making power in the interest of the community “, said Rama.

But, the prime minister added that, “What is happening in less than two hours by air from Albania, makes impossible the legitimate taste of this victory”.

“In the blink of an eye, the world we live in has changed again. But, unlike the temporary change that the pandemic imposed on us, this change does not seem to be so temporary. The war is killing and destroying Ukraine, but it is inserting the clutches of its influence everywhere, in the big and small markets, where daily life is becoming more expensive by minute under the bombs of insecurity that the war sows everywhere”, said Rama.

“In the blink of an eye, the films with the Third World War, the atomic weapons, the desolation of the settlements, have given way to the reality of our lives, where it seems as if there is no more impossible madness and even the end of the world itself cannot be excluded as one of the possible scenarios “, he added.

Meanwhile, continued the prime minister, we have won Dibra, Durres, Lushnja, Vora and Rrogozhina, with results beyond the most optimistic forecasts.

“But, today the challenge is far more than good governance of these municipalities and than all the governing challenges until a few days ago. We coped with the earthquake and the pandemic, and mistakenly thought the worst was over. What has just appeared before us is the worst of all. We should be able to deal with that, too. United, not divided”, he said./m.m//a.a/p.s./
