TIRANA, March 7 /ATA/ – The main opposition Democratic Party proposed a draft resolution on Kosovo, calling on the government of Albania to use all means and opportunities to press for Kosovo’s admission into the membership of the United Nations and the partner organizations in the UN.
Through its draft resolution, DP urges government to exercise all its influence so that the European Union finalizes the visa liberalization agreement for Kosovo and commit to a more active diplomacy to persuade the five EU member states which have not yet recognized Kosovo.
“Recognition of Kosovo now is an important contribution to peace and stability in the region and has a direct impact on the security of EU member states themselves,” the resolution read.
The resolution also calls on the government to influence through Albania’s membership in NATO to strengthen military and political cooperation between Kosovo and NATO, taking every necessary step for Kosovo to become a member of the Partnership for Peace and to pave the way for the country’s NATO membership.
