TIRANA, Feb 25 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama told a press conference after the extraordinary NATO summit on Ukraine, that Albania has shown commitment to host Ukrainians fleeing the war.
“We expressed our commitment in the NATO summit, and for the sake of truth this time many other countries have done the same, unlike the Afghans, who were abandoned even though they stood for years side by side with all NATO forces there “to host people, family members, who are fleeing the war in Ukraine,” said Rama.
“It’s natural to say that this is our story, this is who we really are. This is the legacy which we should leave to our children,” Rama said.
“In the face of this situation and conflict, the issue of these people will be the concern of many countries and all the countries of the eastern wing have stepped forward to welcome them,” Rama said.
Prime Minister added that he chose to share this information to avoid any speculation, as happened with the numbers for Afghan refugees.
