TIRANA, February 24/ATA/ Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku considered baseless the accusations of the opposition for the theft of 430 million Euros in the construction of three waste treatment plants.
During the plenary session in the Assembly, Minister Balluku said that the figure mentioned by the opposition was the amount of money that waste treatment in three municipalities would cost in 30 years time.
According to her, the government at the inquiry commission dismantled the lies of the opposition.
“Rama government undertook the work in 2013. Then, the country faced everything inherited from the previous government, areas suffocated by garbage, which none of us forgets,” said the minister.
According to Balluku, under these circumstances, the government took a series of measures, starting with a detailed master plan, which performed the role of a guide on how Albania should treat waste.
Balluku stressed that it will be the municipalities themselves that will decide whether to use the energy they will produce from these waste treatment plants for their lighting system, or sell it at the open market so that to gain money to invest in the development of the city.
Minister Balluku reiterated that the figure of 430 million Euros mentioned by the opposition, is the total that will be paid for 30 years, for the waste collection service./a.a/p.s./
