TIRANA, Jan 26 /ATA/- By I.Vata/ Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, has introduced on Wednesday the General Director of Probation Service, Ervin Hoxha, who took over this post after the decision of the Council of Ministers.
During the presentation, Manja put the emphasis on law enforcement.
“My one and only message that sums up all the orders I have for you, is law enforcement,” said Manja. Referring to the pertinent issues raised in the media, he asked probation officers not to become part of the machinations at the expense of the right and law. You as a service are not independent. You are not even an island with autonomous government, but you are a service that should be guided by the law and only the law. The supervision of alternative sentences should meet the goals of the criminal sentence according to the law and not the appetites of individuals within the probation service and that has nothing to do with the enforcement of the law, ” said Minister Manja, warning that work is underway to make this service part of the oversight of internal control, just like penitentiary system.
“We are here to do our duty towards the law and the citizens. That’s it. You have applied to be part of the system. You are now part of the system. This system is at the service of citizens. “If anyone thinks otherwise, I want to tell you that no one is above law,” said Manja.
