TIRANA, Jan 23 /ATA/ – Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death globally and therefore continued medical checks and prevention are the best ways to protect and boost the heart health.
The Compulsory Health Care Insurance Fund (CHCIF) said Sunday that a total of 7 103 surgery and cardiac procedures were performed during 2021.
“Despite the difficult situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the specialized care for patents and funding for health packages were not ceased for any moment. As many as 7 103 cardiac procedures were performed during 2021,” the Fund said.
According to the CHCIF, a total of 3531 angiographies, 412 pacemakers, 202 Angioplasties and 2 958 Angiography / Angioplasty procedures were performed during last year.
The Fund also informed that more 49,000 procedures have been performed since this service was launched in 2014.
The specialized medical service, meeting the needs of each patient and continued funding for health packages continue uninterruptedly with 100% funding from CHCIF.
The Cardiology package is just one of the 12 health packages that citizens benefit for free near their place of residence.
