Work for construction of Tirana’s northern bypass gets underway

TIRANA, Jan 19 /ATA/ The work for the construction of Tirana’s northern bypass, part of the big ring road project, have kicked off.

Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, inspected the works in the second lot of the northern bypass, which marks the kickoff of the operations on the first construction site in 7 lots of the northern bypass, a very important part of the Great Ring Road of Tirana.

“The works start here after we have completed most of the investment in the eastern bypass and together with the northern bypass we carry out 40% of the remaining volumes of the Great Ring Road of Tirana, thus enabling access to the capital for the vehicles on the eastern side of the Arbri Road, , but of course through this Ring Road we ease the flow and circulation in all directions of the city, ” said Balluku.

The Minister pointed out that the part of expropriations was one of the setbacks for the construction of 7 lots of northern bypass due to unauthorized constructions. We will take all necessary measures for residents who live in unauthorized houses,” said Balluku, adding that a total of 60 houses will be expropriated.

The road that crosses the second lot of the North bypass is 2.17 km at length and its ample width consists of 4 lanes. The project entails greenery and lighting, in addition to refurbishment of the secondary road, which is located next to this lot.
Balluku added that this road will be delivered in 11 months.

The project for the Ring Road of Tirana is an ambitious investment that eases traffic congestion and delivers an impact on socio- economic development of the surrounding area.
