TIRANA, Jan 9 /ATA/ The Bank of Albania announces that foreign currency-denominated loans account for about 49.9% of the total loan portfolio.
Compared to 2020, this indicator is 2.8 percentage points lower.
This has been particularly attributed to the decline in US dollar-denominated loan, while parallel data show that Euro-denominated loan this year has increased significantly.
On the other hand, the BoA emphasizes that the quality of foreign currency loans unprotected from exchange rate fluctuations has significantly improved in recent years.
In mid-2021 the non-performing loan ratio for this loan segment fell to 6.2% at the end of June 2021, compared to 7.1% in December 2020 and 7.9% in June 2020.
