TIRANA, Dec 22 /ATA/ The Catholic community in Rubik will hold the Christmas mass in the church restored as part of the EU4Culture programme.
The 1st site completed under EU4C was inaugurated yesterday in the presence of EU ambassador Luigi Soreca, Minister of Culture Elva Margariti, Dom Gjergj Meta, ambassadors of TeamEurope and local authorities, according to EU Delegation in Tirana.
In her remark during this ceremony, Minister Margariti said that, “it is really meaningful that the first object inaugurated as part of the“ EU4Culture ”Program interventions is not just a cultural monument, but an object of spiritual importance; an object of hope. ”
“The restoration of the T’Shëlbuemit Church in Rubik is a good omen for the EU-funded EU4Culture program implemented by UNOPS, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture. “It is not just a roof or facade restoration, but an investment that looks beyond the walls,” she said.
“Together with Ambassador Soreca, and friends who honored us in this ceremony, we joined in the joy of the community, to whom this common house was restored,” concluded Margariti.
The Church of the Rubik Monastery, a Franciscan monument, sits on a rocky promontory overlooking the picturesque Fan River. It was originally founded in 1166, as one of the four Benedictine Assemblies in the region of Mirdita.
Through the support of the “EU4Culture” program, the important architecture and history of the church and the rare frescoes will encourage national and international tourism to explore this cultural monument.
Implemented by UNOPS, EU4Culture aims to rehabilitate and revitalize the Albanian cultural heritage damaged by the November 2019 earthquake.
