TIRANA, Dec 15 /ATA/ A new section has been added to the “Digital Commissariat” application to report different types of environmental crimes.
During a meeting that Minister of Interior Bledi Çuçi and Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro held with the directors of State Police and IKMT (National Institute for Territory Protection), Çuçi said that from September 1, 2021, of 40,000 reports filed in total, 276 are related to environmental crime.
“This number of denouncements is testimony to the relevance and efficiency of this very important and ground-breaking innovation in our country and region. To better orient the public, we have added 5 specific sections to the relevant menu on environment crime. On the button “Environmental Crime” all users of the application will find a list of environmental crimes such as: water pollution; soil pollution; illegal dumping of waste; inert pollution and acoustic pollution “, said Minister Çuçi.
According to the minister, this innovation provided as a convenience for the public is a new channel to denounce environmental crime, even under the conditions of complete anonymity.
“We believe that public safety is not only the task of the State Police or law enforcement agencies, but a joint effort of the whole society to close any space for irresponsible individuals or those with criminal tendencies. “The” Digital Commissariat “, with the changes and updates made, is a very powerful tool in the hands of the public to denounce any crime against the environment, after all, against our lives as citizens of this country”, declared Minister of Interior.
