TIRANA, December 12/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that all the relevant structures are in full capacity to come to the aid of the affected residents by increasing of the Vjosa River level.
“On the ground, with all capacities and non-stop, in the area affected by the outflow of the Vjosa River from its bed, as a result of intense rainfall”, said PM Rama, while sharing the statement of the director general of the National Civil Protection Agency Haki Çako.
“From the ground, where the situation of the Vjosa River is monitored, the General Director of the National Agency of Civil Protection Haki Çako said that the Vjosa river in Memaliaj and Përmet is at drastic levels. It is at the maximum levels near the Mifol bridge. Hopefully, it recedes quickly according to its cycle as there has been intense rainfall for three days. It is to be highly appreciated the investment that has been made on both sides of the Vjosa River, mainly in the part of Novosela or Darëzeza”, said Çako.
Further on, Çako added that, “This level of the Vjosa River can be compared to 50 years of inflows and it will serve us to strengthen the investments made so far, but also to map the flood zone”.
“Today, we were on duty with all local government units who have taken measures in the region of Fier and Vlora. There are 3 local government units of municipalities, prefectures and regional directorates that have come to support the Armed Forces. The State Police has been around all day and night. The Armed Forces have been present for the evacuation of residents affected by water and 15 families have been evacuated in Fier and as many in Vlora, 2-3 livestock stables have been evacuated. We remain in full monitoring. We hope that the level of the Vjosa will drop soon. We give the good news that Monday will be a day in our favour”, he said. /j.p/p.s./
