Basha: December 8 separates the past from the future

TIRANA, Dec 8 /ATA/ The Democratic Party head, Lulzim Basha, said in a posting on National Youth Day, that December 8, 1990, separated the past from the future and changed the history of Albania for good.

“31 years later, the call for Albania as the whole of Europe remains a clarion call for us all to fulfil the wish of the young men and women who sacrificed for freedom and democracy, as well as to maintain the momentum of December ’90 in a confrontation with another dictatorship, which is impoverishing and driving out of the country the sons and daughters of Albanians, that of corruption.”
Happy December 8!”, Basha said.

Since 2009, December 8, by a decision of Albanian Parliament, is commemorated as a national holiday in honor of all students of December 1990 and all Albanian youth.

The Student Movement of 1990 is the only peaceful movement that changed the history of Albania.
Shouting the slogan “We want Albania like all of Europe”, the young people stood up for a system based on the Western values and the rule of law; European integration and political pluralism as the cornerstone of a free and democratic society.
