Albania exports to Switzerland valued over 2 billion lek

TIRANA, Dec 5 /ATA/ – Albania’s product exports to Switzerland were valued at over two billion lek in the first ten months of 2021, recording a 300% year-on-year increase from 600 million lek valued during same period of 2020, according to the National Institute of Statistics, INSTAT.

Albania exports to Switzerland mostly include agricultural products, construction materials, minerals and metals.

INSTAT data show that imports from Switzerland were valued around 8 billion lek, down from 8.7 billion lek during the same period of the previous year.

Switzerland is one of the 10 most important countries for the Albanian market. Several large Swiss companies operate in Albania, while a growing number of small and medium-sized Swiss enterprises are recently discovering the Albanian market.

Data show that around 65 Swiss companies operate in Albania, whereas 35 Albanian companies have established regular trade cooperation with Switzerland-based companies. Many Swiss companies operate in Albania’s energy and tourism sectors.

The Switzerland-Albania Chamber of Commerce was founded in 2015 in Tirana, whereas the Albania-Switzerland Chamber of Commerce was established in Geneva this year to boost bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
