TIRANA, December 4 /ATA/- Vice President of the European Investment Bank, Lilyana Pavlova, in an interview with VOA radio, congratulated the Municipality of Tirana and Water Supply and Sewerage Enterprise (UKT) for the great work they have done so far, paving the way for greater investment to improve and develop the network of water supply in the capital.
“This is the largest EIB operation in Albania. I take this opportunity to appreciate and congratulate the Municipality of Tirana and UKT for the great work they have done, enabling us to achieve this important investment of 80 mln. We also committed to give a grant of 1 million Euros in support of the implementation of the project and the preparation of appropriate documents for the implementation of the project “, underlined Pavlova.
The number two of the European Investment Bank underlines that this 80 million euro investment loan is a clear example of how EU funds and the support of the European Investment Bank are going to the benefit of the citizens of Tirana. “At the end of the project, about 1 million citizens will benefit 24 hours of drinking water, of excellent quality.”I believe this is a good example of how European funds and the EIB provide the necessary support,” she said.
Lilyana Pavlova gave details on the agreement signed with the Municipality of Tirana for the improvement of the water supply network. “The project will be implemented in several stages. In the preparatory phase, initially the Tirana Water Supply and Sewerage Enterprise and the Municipality of Tirana will prepare the feasibility study, for which they already have a technical assistance and also with our help the tender documentation will be prepared, which hopefully next year will be ready.
The tender will be announced and the constructors will be selected. We were informed by the municipality that the project will be divided into different lots, so that the work is coordinated and done well, without aggravating traffic and damaging the city’s water supply. We will have to wait 4 years for this project to be completed “, said for VOA the Vice President of the European Investment Bank./p.s./
