Recycling plan starts from schools, universities and administration

TIRANA Dec 4 /ATA/ – By I.Vata/- Minister of Education and Sports, Evis Kushi, along with the Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro and the Minister of State for Youth and Children, Bora Muzhaqi, received in the premises of the Ministry of Education and Sports the rectors of the universities, where they thrashed out a concrete work plan on involvement of universities in the plan of recycling, environmental awareness and education.

Minister Kushi stressed that involvement of students in this campaign is very important for protection of environment, as a common asset or good for future generations, increasingly developing the concept of sustainable development.

This meeting focused on the ways of engaging higher education institutions in the national cleanup plan.

Pre-university education will be included in this very important national plan for cleaning, recycling and environmental education.

For her part, Minister Mirela Kumbaro said that we start recycling from schools, universities and administration, where hundreds of kilos of paper are produced every day, but mistakenly end up in the litter bin like all other waste.

“Therefore, with Ministers Kushi and Muzhaqi, we met with the Rectors of universities, to launch as soon as possible a Recycling Plan, initially with paper in all institutions of higher education. It is no accident that we start in the education sector because it is the best way to educate and start changing the behavior of society “, said the minister.
Kumbaro stressed that “it is not enough to clean up the spaces of the territory unless we educate ourselves, which starts from the school benches. Recycling is the only way to reduce the volume of waste and it is our duty to hit the ground running.”
