TIRANA, Nov 19 /ATA/ Students who have finished high school with grade point average 10 were awarded with the “Gold Medals” on Friday during a ceremony organized in the premises of the government building.
In attendance of the ceremony were Prime Minister Edi Rama, Minister of Education and Sports, Evis Kushi, Minister of State for Youth and Children, Bora Muzhaqi, teachers, students, etc.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Edi Rama stressed that “being awarded with gold medals is proof that nothing is impossible when commitment and effort are in abundance even when you aim big. ”
“This ceremony is a practice and awarding gold medals to the most excellent graduates is for us not only the moment of handing over the well-deserved medal, but also a moment to share with the public the strength of your shining example , ” said Rama.
Maybe, Rama continued, who can remember the last ceremony will call me a repeater, but I will repeat what in my view is the core of this awesome achievement.
“Among you there are certainly girls and boys who come from difficult family backgrounds, students who have had all possible excuses not to do what you did due to economic, social difficulties, distance from school, but the fact that you have not used any of these excuses to neglect a single grade speaks volumes about the great difference between the person who believes in his dream and achieves his ambition with hard work and many others who hide failures after excuses that can be legitimate, ” underlined Rama.
Due to my duty, I have visited with many families living in difficult economic conditions.
“What has stuck with me as an indelible impression for the rest of my life is the fact that in those families, where in some cases even the roof of the house leaked, I had the privilege of meeting children who shined at school, children who studied in physical conditions beyond imagination and yet received top grades at school. “Children who were not satisfied only with the Albanian language, but spoke English fluently, while at their home the daily challenge was to make the ends meet and none of the adults knew English,” he said.
In the meantime, he said, this ceremony is precisely the mirror image of a generation that spends its most beautiful time after school in situations that are not comparable to each other, but brings together here a considerable group of girls and boys coming from different domains of life in terms of the social status of the family, but share the common destiny of being equally excellent.
